explosion-type sounds! They turned out to be sonic booms from the space shuttle landing!! I heard them aaaaallll the way over on the gulf side of Florida.

Dad has said that he's never heard two sonic booms in succession. Can anyone here answer that one?

I missed the launch about three? months ago as I darted out in my pajamas in the dark after an announcement on the Bay 9 News and apparently was looking in the wrong direction. The neighbors down here were ooohing and aweing! I must catch the next one!

Here's a video of the landing at link. Video will start after the commercial.

Wow, that's hard to comprehend, but I guess if jets can do it... also, the double-boom...

I have heard it before because I live not too far from an airbase (well, yeah, I guess it is a ways away but they fly over us before they land/take off). I guess I just figured it was REALLY going faster than sound, but I may be wrong!

some years back, we were coming into to port at Coco Beach when one was taking off.

wow, you think it's impressive on TV, but that was amazing, need to look for those pictures.

would love to see one come home!

thanks Sandy,
Nan
