NFRC Can we talk Downton Abbey? (spoiler alert) What the...

Yes! (spoiler alert)

Sadly I'd heard his contract was up and had an offer to do something else (Broadway?) that would conflict with the shooting schedule.

So the whole time I was thinking -the shooting range? - the train? then oh bring his car to the station he'll drive himself back...

Really sad though, not Sybil sad because I thought it was coming, then I thought maybe they'll leave it open for him to return or I'd gotten it wrong, but there it was.

I was taken completely by surprise. (spoiler alert)

Even when Anna said so articulately "Mr Crowley will drive himself to the hospital" I didn't see it coming.

But let's talk about O'Brien. Why has she become so devious? Did Thomas do something early in the season to start this feud or did it start with her trying to push her knuckle-headed nephew up the ranks? They were best friends in the beginning.

"Her Ladyship's soap" has become a buzzword in this house.

Yes, I think that was it. Plus, they've had a snarky relationship even when they were on the same side -remember when he went into the food business? Didn't she snark on him when all that went down?

I hope the writers are good enough to pull things together....(spoiler alert)...

without Matthew, Dan Stevens (who seems to already be in another English production with Laura Linny and is lined up to be in a production with Liam Neeson), who seemed to pull together the various characters and soften their various personality quirks. To me he seemed like a very pivotal character.

That, I think... "trying to push her knuckle-headed nephew up the ranks"

but I got the idea it was also aimed at Jimmy, because he would've been in line to get the head footman's job over nephew Alfred (which he ended up doing!).
