NFRC: here is a late summer picture of my garden.

It's lovely

I would enjoy a garden but the best I can do is a small herb container garden. Here in the desert it's just too much water and work to keep anything edible alive.

I lived in the high desert of CA for a few years and the most glorious garden is the desert in the

spring. The Cholla cactus flowers, and all the others, were so spectacular.

If we have heavy winter rains we get some gorgeous wildflowers in the spring

And if we get a really good cold snap my lilac bush will burst forth in March. In the summer the ocotilla and jimson will bloom when it rains.

I have one of your pix from last year as my screen saver at work...

It's just so lovely to look at. Everyone always asks if it's my garden. They are amazed when I say it's someone in Alaska's garden.

. . . and Sarah Palin too----oops, not being political, just a funny for whichever way you lean.

heehee, yep. And it multiplies----yesterday DH was playing ball with her and he turned his back to

go inside, thinking she was following. He turned back around, and she had a small puppy following her! from up in the tall grass. Ha. what a mystery for awhile. DH brought the puppy inside and dried her off and our Hope started doing the mommy licking thing and then DH was going to take the pup around the block to see if anyone was searching for it. Lo and behold, while the pup was being groomed by our missy, the Dad and girl owners wandered into our yard. They were looking at the house behind us,which is for sale, and the girl let the pup out of the car and didn't realize it till it had snuck away.
