Sorry, I can't help myself, I keep telling everyone that she is the prettiest, most perfect baby ever born! Isn't this forum the next best thing to shouting from the rooftops?

Woo-hoo!

They live hours away but I will manage to get up there every month or so. Any hints for long-distance bonding?

Again, woo-hoo!

Congratulations!

Meant to say - a good long distance plan. Actually friends of ours are across country. I helped them set up Skype and an internet camera their daughter sent them and that works pretty well for them. It's so easy these days with technology. The baby was a little confused when she was smaller but as she's getting older, it doesn't confuse her and she doesn't try to grab the camera or computer screen.

Congratulations!

If you can and feel so inclined, please post a picture. smileys/smile.gif

I think a once a month visit from Gramma is great! I like the idea of taping the reading of stories, or you could have someone videotape you doing it. We did that for nieces and they loved it!

Awww... congrats grammy! When the baby gets a little older and recognizes you...

They can keep your picture on the dresser and let them see it everyday -- "Here is grandma who loves you very much"... it's amazing but they will recognize them person in a picture when they see them.

I would also recommend getting a camera on your computer and signing up at Skype (www.skype.com). It's free long-distance phone calls to anyone else who is signed up. With a camera you get free phone calls, PLUS get to see each other. You could read bedtime stories virtually!! Ain't technology great?

Congratulations on the bestest times of your life! smileys/smile.gif

I should know...I have one of my own! She just turned 4. Four of the best years of my life!

You are in for such a treat!!! And....I'm warning you -- you'll be there much more than you thought! smileys/smile.gif

ENJOY!!!!

Congratulations! Wonderful news!! I know grandparents that would send their

grandchildren a cassette of their voice reading a children's book.
Congrats again

Congrats! Being a grandma is the best. As to long term contact the....

best is the videocam. When my daughter was in the US it was great for seeing them and watching my granddaugter. (not as good as now that she is home)

Thanks for all the good wishes...

I feel happy every time I glance over to see a picture. Skype is something I need to find out about. I do like the idea of video stories.
Thanks, everyone!

I tried to add a picture but no luck, so here is a mental picture for you. Round little face, with rosy red chipmunk cheeks, button nose, and kewpie-doll mouth. Makes you want to stroke her cheek and kiss her fuzzy little head.+
