Have any of you seen this wonderful series that was on Masterpiece Theater years ago? It is now available on dvd. The story is about a woman (Louisa Trotter) that wants to become the best cook in England and her journey from being born into service to her place in history. Much of the story (5 dvds) revolves around the great kitchens of the time. Lots of Victorian intrigue too-

I haven't seen the series for many years but am happy to be able to see it again. If you haven't had the pleasure, I recommend it but beware- you won't be able to stop watching once you start.

And I watch the reruns of "Golden Girls" on a Sat. evening ...

and I love them!!! It's the only good chuckle of the entire week. How I wish we'd have another series like that!

Oh thanks for the FYI! Loved that series and will certainly rent it again! Good winter watching.

I saw this a few years ago and it was actually what inspired me to start catering.

I ignored the part where she almost dies of exhaustion.

Wonderful series. Such a great performance.

LOL, Joe- the first time I saw it I WAS catering and could really reate to the hospital scene!

LOL, my other inspiration was "Matha Inc." I really do miss the point

of these cautionary tales, don't I? But you can reate.
