NFRC - ideas for retirement party favors?

Getting Bell's Palsy in June delayed my retirement party. There will be about 75 or 80 teachers and staff coming. I'd like to give a favor or memento to attendees but some are diabetic so cute cookies are probably out. Any ideas? Bookmarks have been done too often.

Wow! That is a tough one. In our area, the retiree does not give out gifts. they are just the

recipient of a gift. With 75-80 people, it could be alot of $$ to give out a gift. what about a donation to the school library for books? Maybe combined with a gift basket that gets raffled off? ie to whoever sits in seat X or has something on the bottom of their chair.... or have all the names in a basket and have the animated teacher, in our case, would be the PE guy, pick out names from a hat.....
Could be a really nice basket or 2; or one for every number of years you worked there. But not for the entire group.

You could include and tell a story about what is meaningful for you in the basket.... ie....Johnny in second grade liked football (include a football), I like making jam, penmanship is critical (#2 pencils), something about cafeteria food, etc.... My favorite book is X, Ill never forget my first day,.... Which brings me to the my last day w/ support of friends / colleagues (something with a heart). You get the idea. It could be a story and could be fun and much better than a bookmark. Enjoy your special party!

Congrats on your retirement and hope you are recovering well with BP.

Best,
Barb

I just saw an idea on Pinterest that might not cost much...

Prescription bottles (thinking of putting mixed nuts inside smileys/smile.gif ), with a label/quote from Dr. Seuss:
" Unless someone like you
cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better.
It's not."

I could add thanks for the years of caring and sharing.

A few ideas

Here are a few ideas:
Pretty/smelly tea lights in small organza bags (purchase the latter at Michaels using their 40% coupon)
Sugar free candy in small organza bags (or you could do some sugar free and some regular)
Lottery tickets in personalized holders with a cute saying on the holder - instant tickets
Seeded favor card (called plantable favors) personalized for your party - can be seeded with wildflowers or herbs - easy to plant.

Wow! Thanks for the creative ideas!

I will look into the seeded card favors. Who doesn't like flowers?
As an adult ESL teacher, I've been given some unique gifts. The ones that struck us as over the top and not going to be used at home (e.g.fiber-optic peacock clock) have been saved in my garage. They will be wrapped and given away in a white elephant drawing.
A friend is hosting the party in her large backyard so everybody can mix. Margaritas and Mexican food !

Give me ~2 mths & I bet DH & I could supply U w/ 80+ prescrip. bottles. Sad, but probably true! ha!
