NFRC: I'm starting to like the annual hardbound editions of certain mags...

I just received my hardbound 2005 Cook's Country (with the free microplaner in the same box, I might add) and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Dawn/MO is beautiful in the August/September issue, and meal planning is easy with the full-year index of recipes in the front.

I am considering getting the hardback copy of Cooking Light's yearly recipe collection. I tried a year's subscription, but the amount of ads put me off. I had a hard time finding the desire to sit down and try to wade through what seemed like ENDLESS ads in order to find the recipe articles I subscribed to get. I imagine the hardback doesn't have any ads... just recipes.

Does anyone here have the hardback of Cooking Light recipes? If so, do you have a favorite year? I'm going on ebay to get back copies, and I thought I'd check what year was an especially good vintage.

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Michael - note of caution

Cooking Light also published an annual cookbook in 86, 87, 88, 89. ( at least those are the years I have, there may be more) They AREN'T a compilation of the magazine, but still good recipes. Be sure you're purchasing the cookbook you want..

Thanks Lisa. I just got an offer from Cooking Light that claimed to be...

..."all the recipes published in our magazine in 2005".

I'll keep an eye out for the kind you mention.

I guess I'm spoiled with Cook's Illustrated. I really have a problem with ads, and it bugs me to pay $$$ so someone can "sell" me. Cookbooks are the way to go.

Love the annual cookbooks - my favorites are the Food & Wine ones...

They categorize the annuals into regular categories, like appetizers, entrees, etc. I like that a lot better than being categorized by the month, as the cooking light ones are.

p.s. LOVE your new tagline! Hilarious!
