NFRC: Man, did this make me feel old...

From my niece, chatting about her kids starting school this week:

"Kevin started kindergarten. He'll start next week full day. He loved his teacher and is excited about going to computer class".

I never even SAW a computer until I was 24!!!!

The first computer I saw took the whole floor of General Telephone's office in Santa Monica.

Trying to imagine...

my kindergarten teacher, who was born in 1899, teaching computer class in my kindergarten room in 1964. We had toys, a big playhouse, blocks, a sandbox...

We have a shelf of those (and tape cannisters) from when my dad was in info/tech in LA. smileys/smile.gif)

I still have one stack of punch cards somewhere, just to remind me how it used to be

when I complain about my computer being slow.

Neither did I -- remember carbon paper and erasable bond? I took key punch classes from the IRS in

college -- yikes. College registration was a week long affair. We stood in long lines in the gym and waited to get a punched card for each section. If you broke the tab off your card you lost your class!
