even had it! Oven is 13 years old and I guess that is considered the life span, so we're just replacing it. It's a GE built-in single oven and we're debating if we should spring an extra $600-700 for a convection oven. Any opinions? Are they really the next big thing? Seems I've read where users are not particularly happy with them. Really hate to put an extra $600-700 into the oven if it's not a big deal. I'm leaning toward just putting in a regular oven, no one seems to pay any attention to it anyway, lol.

Edited to say I wrote this in such a hurry and it doesn't make sense. My house is for sale and I was wondering if a convection oven was worth the extra money under the circumstances. I decided it isn't, we're spending some of the extra on a new microwave instead. The plastic on the old one has gotten sort of a yellow hue to it, a new one will look a lot better with the new oven.

You made the right choice, IMHO, especially when selling. It's more about

the looks when people come in to your place. Two new sparkly appliances will be a bigger boost than having a convection feature.

My oven has a convection feature, which I have used under a dozen times in the four years I've had it.

Thank you Lisa, the new oven is amazing compared to the old one. It has a

larger interior space, even though it fits into the same cut-out. As I said, no one really paid attention to the old one and both of the new ones look so nice and pristine. What a difference 14 years make, hard to believe the house is that old.
