Hi all,
I just wanted to let you know that my mother died on January 16th from pancreatic cancer. As soon as the baby was able to travel, we went to my parents to see them. Mom was in a coma, hadn't opened her eyes for four or five days, and her breathing was very labored. On Friday evening, her breathing smoothed out and we gathered at her bedside. She opened her eyes and looked straight at me, my husband, and the baby. I told her that we were here with her and that we loved her. Then she closed her eyes and was gone.
That moment was such a gift, and I'm so glad we were able to be there. I'm sorry that Liam won't know his Nana, but it's so good that she's no longer in pain. The last month has been such a strain--very bittersweet. The next months will be hard, too, but hopefully we can get on with healing.
Thanks so much for all your support and caring. This is a great community...
