NFRC Towels

It seems that the bath towels I buy now are either coated with something or have some sort of sizing on them. They are not absorbent until they have been washed many, may times. My daughter had the same experience with some she just bought. Price doesn't seem to be in the equation.

Can anyone suggest a brand of bath towel that is absorbent right out the box?

Thanks, Janet

Are they 100% cotton? (look I used the percent sign!)

A friend said she got some at Target she liked. JC Penney's use to have some good ones, but I haven't bought towels in a while. The last ones I think I got at TJ Maxx. I go by 100% cotton and feel. Did get some Egyptian cotton ones I didn't like, so won't do that again.

Yes, they are 100% cotton.. Probably from Tuesday Morning or

TJ Max. I'd buy them anywhere if they dried you off!

Thanks Cathy but it does seem silly to have to go through this

process to make an item do what it should do in the first place. I'm still hoping someone will come up with a brand that doesn't have this "coating" in the first place.

Are your towels "looped" terry vs a sheared terry? The sheared feels much softer but

has lost it's ability to absorb, even if cotton, because the "loops" have been sheared off. The "loop" captures the water drops, sheared can't do that.
