I am thinking of flying in to ???? (Europe)from Miami or the Caribbean) and then taking a train to Geneva...hoping to cut costs...see some scenery but I have a very short time alloted for this.

Any suggestions.

(I am going to a wedding which maybe in Sweden but may change to Switzerland so have to check out options)

Thank you Janet...I answered you but seems as if everything as gone missing...I'll

try again later.....is it FK that is slow or my PC, I wonder?

Hi Joanie, I took a train from Nice, France to Geneva where I stayed

a few days, and then back to Paris. You could go Paris to Geneva, or fly into Nice and take the train to Geneva.

Most of Switzerland

is pretty accessible by train. So if you get there, getting to Geneva shouldn't be too bad. Once you get to Geneva, the train station is pretty central to the city and it is easy to get around there. Great public transportation, and lots of fun to see walking.

We lived in Geneva for two years 1999- 2001. It is a wonderful city and I miss it a bunch!

I think anywhere by train in Switzerland is heaven. Fave would be Lucerne & Geneva to Martigny

along Lac Geneve. That's 2 separate areas. Both really are beautiful and this is a grand time to see it....but I don't know when you're planning to go.

I also think that Eurail passes are such a convenience and are for First Class which is really the only way you'd want to go in Europe.

You could fly into Florence, if you can get a direct flight since the switch to train from airport is easy. Paris is treacherously (and I think disgustingly) expensive and getting to a train station from the airport will cost at least $100 if you want a taxi.

If you train from Paris, you would go through the Dijon neighbourhood. It's about 4 hours as I recall, to Geneva, but not the greatest scenery. Anywhere out of northern Italy, offers much more exciting scenery. Depending on which airport you would fly into in Milan, (you could see which offers better connections to the station) the scenery is just spectacular up into Switz.

What about training from Vienna to Geneva?
