I am trying to narrow in on the appliances. The oven selection was down to two candidates, a double oven, convection system either F&P or GE Monogram. I was happy to choose between the two.

Tonight we called friends of ours who just happen to own an appliance store. They were very enthusiastic about the GE Trivection oven. Since I am extremely NOT a microwave fan I had quickly dismissed this candidate.

I don't understand how something that cooks so quickly can develop the depth of flavor that I strive so hard to achieve.

Does anyone own this oven? Does anyone have any thoughts about it? DH is a big "techie" person and is very interested in the newest and latest technology, he is very intrigued by this oven.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I bet that will be an even bigger YEAH when it's finished. I don't know a thing about the oven

you're asking about, but congratulations on getting a new kitchen. I know you must be so excited. Please keep us posted on the progress and I hope for pics when it's done. Now down to important business, lol. HOw are you handling your meals while it's being done? Will you still be able to access parts of it or will you be eating out? Any idea of how long it will take?

Have you checked some appliance message boards for info? I think Garden Web has one.

Hi Curious! I am very excited. We've been planning for about a year now...

So far we love our contractor and kitchen designer, a husband and wife team who have worked in our area for about 30 years. Small delay on their current project so we have been told end of April for a start date. I am VERY excited and can't wait for action to begin!

I have been spending tons of time on the Garden Web, their Home Site is a great place. I gather that this trivection oven is more for people in a hurry to cook, not for me.

you must be so excited! we just have cabinet doors to replace and new floors

and I couldn't be happier with our re-do. our needs were more cosmetic so I seriously lucked out there.

I don't know about the oven's either. if you are getting a GE gas cooktop, be very careful. we started out with the GE stove and noticed the flames were higher on the outside of the burners than the inside. it seems they make them like that due to a lawsuit from some idiot who burned themselves reaching accross the center of the stove.

if you look at the flame guides on the burners, you'll see the holes are closer together on one side than the other. bottom line, you can't cook anything evenly and forget simmering. we finally got Sear's to take it back and replace it with a different brand.

good luck with your new kitchen smileys/smile.gif

Randi, thank you for the info on the gas cooktop. We are looking at the Monogram and the

DCS 5 burner models. I will look more closely at the flames next time I go to the appliance store. What a great tip!

I saw the pics of your new kitchen and am jealous of how big it is. Our kitchen is a typical 1960's "L" shape with the galley on the long leg of the "L". The short leg of the "L" is the eat in area. We are going to make this area 5' deeper so we can put in an island to give me a bit more counter space--oh boy, I can't wait! I will also gain a 5' pantry IN THE KITCHEN, not a half flight down and in the back of the house--I feel like a spoiled child.........
