Just finished reading a tome about the Mormons in the late 1800s-SAINTS: A Novel by Orson Scott Card

I am reading To the End of the Land by David Grossman for a group read and have just started Moo by

Jane Smiley as my beach book which I will take with me next week when we go on a 3 day vacation
at the Red Sea.

I will be loading up my Kindle with new books
for my next travels but haven't decided exactly
what next.

Just finished James Lee Burke's "Creole Belle" and am mid-"Odd Apocalypse" by Dean Koontz. I think

I read 3 books a week. Gotta love the library. I'll admit to reading nothing of substance, however. It's all entertainment. Well, except for McGee. For some reason, I can't get enough of him.

I'm on a Jane Austin journey this summer...

I'm in the middle of Mansfield Park. So far, Pride and Prejudice is my favorite. I've read all with the exception of Northanger Abbey.

Shark's Fin and Sichuan Pepper

I'm re-reading Fuchsia Dunlop's (She has written three authoritative chinese cookbooks specializing in authentic Sichuan and Hunanese fare) Shark's Fin and Sichuan Pepper, chronicling her initial immersion in China and her time as the first westerner to cook at the Sichuan Culinary Institute in Chengdu (Heart of Sichuan province). It's getting me all fired up for a culinary trip I'm taking in October, starting with some classes in Bangkok and finishing with a 2-week intensive class at the same culinary institute.

Highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the spicy, mouth-numbing, flavorful food of Sichuan.
