While I've given up Janet Evanovich since Book 10 (you really can milk something dry: see Books 11 thru 18), I dearly, dearly loved her first efforts with Stephanie Plum, laughing out loud.

Janet had Sandra Bullock in mind for the lead movie role, but too many years have passed. That role has now passed on to Katherine Heigl and hopefully (fingers crossed!) the previews won't turn out to be the only funny parts.

For two years I lived around the corner from the main Trenton street used in her books. And while I loved reading the books, it was almost as much fun figuring out which parts of Trenton Stephanie was in.

I may celebrate with donuts AND a tomato pie.

May be a movie both husband and I would enjoy. Hard to find one of those!

My wife is a big fan and I've read a few. Heigel looks okay, Debbie Reynolds looks GREAT as do the

rest of the female cast.

I do have some doubts about the casting of Jason O'Mara as "Italian Stallion" Joe Morelli. While not a terrible actor, O'Mara's as Irish as corned beef ... literally, he's from Ireland! He has an Irish accent! A younger Michael Nouri would have been great, even Bobby Cannavle would have been okay. Are we to believe there were NO Italian-American actors who could pull off that role so the studio HAD to go with an Irishman? I think not. Somebody must have called in some significant favors.

Then there's Latin-lover, hot pistola, Ranger. Sure, Daniel Sunjata (not so much Latin as African-American, Irish and German but who's counting)will probably be fine but come on, tell me when you read the books you weren't picturing Banderas or at least someone Banderas-like.

Of course, who amongst us hasn't been disappointed by the translation of book to screen. As an avid reader, it happens quite often for me. About the only time I haven't been disappointed in casting was with The World According to Garp (a book I didn't care for that much.) I thought the film captured the characters perfectly and enjoyed the film more than the book.

And don't get me started on "The Ten Commandments" . . . ahem.

looking forward to it....

and the preview looks great. But not sure how I feel about the casting of Ranger. I can sort of see heigle as Stephanie.... but the guy doing Ranger not so much.
