NFRQ - How do I get my autosearch function default to get back

to being Google? One day I woke up and it changed from Google to Bing (?!). I didn't change anything.

I don't mean the automatic default search that comes up when you click on the magnifying glass in the toolbar at the top of the screen - that sets Google as the default in the SIDEbar, but I want to be able to type in "banana cream pie recipe" in the address box and have google give me a bunch of links automatically, without me typing in google.com first. I used to be able to do this. BTW, I hate the seeing 2 screens (using the sidebar) and I don't even like banana cream pie ;o)

Anyone have a clue? I am using IE version 7.0 and can't find the answer anywhere, using google, yahoo, asking friends, etc. Thanks!

Dawn, when I search in the address field I get a web site not a list from ANY search engine.

I do have a google tool bar that I use.

This is why I love Firefox. smileys/smile.gif (Sorry; not that that really helps with your problem.)

I haven't a clue if this helps, but go to Control Panel >>

Internet Options > General (tab) and see what the SEARCH default setting is.

Mine has Google as the default setting.

Thanks, but that's the first thing I did. But all I have

all I have for choices are home page, temp internet files, and history - then the choices for colors, fonts, lang, and accessibility.

Maybe it's because I have version 7, but I want to keep that. Version 8 commands are just too small for me to see comfortably!

I used to be able to type "banana cream pie recipe" in the address bar, and I'd get

google's results listed. Handy, because then I wouldn't have to actually GO to google, but it took me there in one step. I didn't have to type anything in once there.)

And NOW it has the nerve to tell me that they can assign their contract

to me with or without my knowledge or permission! (I read the "legal" section at the bottom of Bing's search page.) And it is trying to tell me how to protect against "Potentially Unwanted Software" - a little ironic, don't ya think?!

Argggh......

You may be stuck because Bing is Microsoft's new search engine.

Guess you could switch from IE to Google's Chrome browser. This will do what you used to do in the address field.

Dawn, I have IE7 and I get the same as Marilyn posted. Under tools, internet options and then

in the general, there's a choice for search. Google is default. If Bing/Microsoft is listed, highlight it and remove it.

Uh... I'm in the Twilight Zone. Under those

same steps there is no search default setting on my laptop. I'm using an Inspirion 2650 laptop, with my browser as IE 7 - I like the old one, that has the big, obvious icons. I'm going to Tools>Internet Options>General tab (and everywhere else in there too) and there is no choice for search default setting. I know there must've been at some point, because I did it about 6 months ago!! Hmm... email me if you'd like. Thanks everyone!!!//

Hmm, now it's back. Wierd. Thanks for the advice, but I didn't do a thing to change it, or change

it back! Like I said - Twilight Zone.
