Nice pie, Maria- and here is another July 4 pie- this one blueberry

Was lucky to find very good berries. Plump, juicy, sweet. I made pate brisee (Julia's T&T recipe) which turned out perfectly even though we're in a rainy, humid and hot time weather-wise. The crust baked perfectly- flaky, tender, just right.

Dinner was BBQ ribs in the slow cooker, potato salad, watermelon and that pie. I took my favorite bottled BBQ sauce and enhanced with brown sugar, Sriracha and brandy- it turned out to be the best ever. After slow-cooking the ribs I had a lot of sauce leftover and last evening we used it to grill chicken. Delicious.

They were OK, not as good as previous years...

but we live for that annual fresh peach pie each summer. My other half is the pie baker in the family. I get to peel peaches.

In all the years, I've never gotten a peach from my tree - the squirrels get every one smileys/frown.gif
