Non wine drinker making Sangria for a shower

The recipe calls for a dry white wine. All wine tastes like grape juice to me, so I have no idea what I'm looking for. Any suggestions?

I'd do a sauvignon blanc. It is already fruity

and I assume you will be adding some fruit and sugar with it. What is the recipe.

I've used a nice pinot grigio with great results....

everyone loved it. Think I used a recipe from the old Gail's - in fact, I was thinking about it the other day and I need to go back and find it.

I think one other answer might be to NOT choose a

chardonnay which can be pretty heavy. Light whites like pinot g., SB, chenin blanc would all be fine. I also would not pay a lot for the wine--it's going to have a lot added to it so it doesn't really have to stand on its own.

Agree Gretchen - inexpensive wine here is just fine....

my staple pinot grigio that I keep on hand at all times for cooking is Cavit - inexpensive and it works great for almost everything.

Thank you all, I went with the pinot grigio ...

Hubby (who works nights) had some this morning and said it is very tasty (thought it tasted like grape juice, myself). I don't have the exact recipe in here, but here are the basics:

2 bottles dry white wine
3/4 cup brandy
1/2 cup triple sec
1/2 cup simple syrup
2 cups orange juice
1/2 cup guave nectar
1 green apple, sliced
1 cup ea. raspberries & blackberries

The flavors are all melding together and should be just right for the couples' shower tomorrow.
