Nostalgia, Tony Bourdain, and an invitation to dinner.

Years ago I did PR for two chefs. One ran a cooking school and a secret underground restaurant. The other, an aspiring restauranteur, who famously hosted chefs on tour with their cookbooks. Both chefs hosted Tony for dinner. One was filmed for the Seattle episode of No Reservations (I'm on the show), and the other, was captured in this wild romp of an article.

Cheers, old friend.

SO sad. Had dinner at DD's last night and drank a toast to him--we are all

big fans of his shows and books.

It was so shocking to me that he made this choice, but in the middle of the night

when things always feel the worst sometimes people choose this way. I feel so badly for his daughter, girlfriend, and his friends, especially Eric. My group of chef friends are so depressed over this, and are going through all the phases of emotions. Me too. It brought up a lot of bad stuff about my ex boyfriend who passed away after we broke up - "suspected" was his inquest's verdict. I am going to miss Anthony's talent and viewing the world through his eyes. I can't bear to watch his show at the moment. Funny thing, I have horrible insomnia and years ago I found that if his show was on I would fall asleep, so I started playing his show - didn't matter which one - on my phone or tablet and out I would go. It's his voice I think.

The night is no friend....

Man, every time I've been tempted to do something drastic, it's been at night. I force myself to pause, and wait for daylight. Then decide. Nothing ever seems as horrible as I thought in the the light of day.

I feel sorry for all the people connected to him, but more than that, I feel sorry for all the times he was tempted and never did it. And being a public figure, having to put on a 'show' when you're feeling like shit, it's the worst. Maybe it's the thing that got him through. Who knows?

Timing wise, I'm sad that his death was so close to Kate Spade's and the press link them together. Tony deserved his own spotlight.
