Not exactly Sarasota, but, Trader Joes is opening in Naples, FL!!!

Too funny, I was there today w/ my mom. Such a great store. I purchased :

Kumatos (Brown Tomato's)... Gave 1/2 to Mom They are silly looking. Have not tried them.

Chicken in Curry (dh is working late, so will make it tomorrow)
Basamati
frozen bread...

The employees are so nice. We do not go there often, It is not in my circle of stores. (It is about 25 minutes away)
But, everytime I am there, I say to my mom, that we should go more frequently.

I'm not sure if they use the same supplier back east, but their TJ's regular cottage cheese...

... (not low-fat) is the best I've had since we lived across the street from a dairy when I was little. The owner used to give my Mom some of the cottage cheese he made for his family and friends. Oh my goodness, it was superb!

Also, as Joe and I have mentioned before, if you like feta cheese the "Pastures of Eden" brand (green and yellow poly-bag) is the best I've ever eaten. So good! Excellent cheeses, in general.

Love their greens. Their heavy cream is excellent, as well as the strawberry kefir. Slab chocolate is good, as is the boutique chocolates they sell in small bars.

Whole bean coffee is a bargain, and very good.

Always an adventure in that store. Very fun.

Speaking of cottage cheese...

Maybe someone can explain to me the how and why cottage cheese is sometimes "dry" (and yummy) or other times really wet and lots more sour (not IMHO yummy). I don't often eat cottage cheese, but had a hankering for it of late and only end up with the wet sour stuff that I have to toss. I've tossed a lot of cottage cheese of late.

The TJ's cottage cheese I mentioned above tends towards the sour and wet you describe...

...and I love it! To each, his own, I guess.

I don't like it too soupy, but a little creamy liquid is not problematic for me. Oh, and cottage cheese is one product I NEVER buy the low-fat or reduced-fat version. Only full-fat for me! I think it tastes best, and since I don't eat it every day, I will splurge.

Why is that Barb? State regulations? I know the TJ's here had to

wait on their hard liquor license for a few months after opening, but they did have wine in the store right after opening.

Maria, I also enjoy dry sour cream. Two recipes that the wet stuff can be used in....

- Randi's Cottage Cheese Bread
- Stuffed shells; recipe is on the back of the pasta box.

These both work with the wet stuff, in the event you do not want to toss it...

Have you ever tried pot cheese? It's super dry.

If you have any Jewish delis nearby, those are the places to look. Don't bother with the "Pot-Style" stuff in the supermarkets.

Do they have a deli counter where you can buy it, loose, by the pound?

That's the only way to buy it. Stay away from the prepackaged stuff.
