OCD info: The Glad "Family Size" disposable container is just a schmoog too big for our

flat-rate box. It squeezes in without the lid, but with the lid on, the sides of the box bulge out a bit.

It's still usable, but I wouldn't pack anything crushable because there is no room for padding on the box sides...only on the top and bottom. And that's just tempting fate with the post office.

Poop.

I thought that was going to be the Perfect Container. Oh well, the search continues.

If it's helpful for anyone to know, I did a practice mailing from VA to AL....

a couple of weeks ago and the recipeints finally got back to me. They said not a crumb was out of place, the cookies were perfect. This is what I did:

First I lined the box with bubble wrap, the small size bubbles. I stacked cookies by tpe of cookie and wrapped each stack with plastic wrap followed by a layer of tin foil wrap, followed by a layer of bubble (again the small sized bubbles). I made the stacks to fit snuggly into the width of the box.

I only had room for 3 stacks of cookies with some additional wasted space. I will make my final batches of cookies a little smaller in diameter (about 2.5") so I can fit 3 stacks along with some other goodies.

Marilyn, can we put our note inside the boxes we send you or should it be sent to you separately?

Put your own notes inside your box. I'll be sending a generic file with the LM

letter that they would like inside. Haven't figured the best way to do that yet as I don't have everyone's email addreess.

I am SO glad the packaging worked out. You can be on a test team any time!

Were there any hand-down cookie favorites?

Marilyn, the hands down winner cookie was the Toffee Crunchers...

From King Arthur. They were chosen first by DH as one of the best cookies he has had (and, living with me comes with LOTS of cookies!), next my co-wokers chose it unanimously to be part of my cookie packages and finally the recipents of my practice mailing raved about them. So, they are a definite part of my assortment!
