I've only had a veggie garden for about 3 years -and up until now I grew whatever tomato plants I found at the local nursery. But this year I bought several heirloom plants at a farmer's market (did I think to write down their names...nooooo. Lesson learned). Anyway - although I've been harvesting about 20 tomatoes a day from all my plants - today was the first heirloom. And a might one at nearly 18 ounces! It was a beautiful rosy colur on the base and sides, and green near the top. And it was a slice of pure heaven. So incredibly sweet. As an aside, I happen to be allergic to tomatoes - if I eat more than a 'normal' amount - my chin breaks out (very attractive on a 45 year old woman). Here's to concealer because I'm not giving up my tomotoes
