oh, isn't this a lovely idea for a display table: Fairy lights UNDER the tablecloth

Wow! I remember reading about this cookie tradition but didn't recall where it was. do they have a

cake too?

Oh ya. The fun part is watching all the little old ladies knock over folks trying to get out with

plates stacked 1 foot high and wrapped in foil.

LOL, this reminded me of the dinners the hospital would give to the volunteers a few times a year

the little old ladies, would put extra food on their plates, takes extra napkins, they put the food in the napkins and into their purses. I never understood how that food leaking into their purses was a good thing!

Folks do cookie exchanges here--come for a little party and bring X amount of cookies.

Put them out and then take X amount home of the others offered. It's cute and fun.

Oh the Iditarod banquets in Nome! The ziplocks come out of the totebags and get filled with shrimp

And strawberries and anything not bolted down. It was our best meal of the year. Catered by a big hotel in Anchorage---the millenium(used to be a Prince Hotel)
