As stated in the link, I've always done the Julia Child method and it's never failed...

Perfect eggs every time (no circumference measurements necessary): Put eggs in cold water, cover, and bring to a boil. The second the water boils, remove the pot from the heat and leave covered for exactly 18 minutes.

oh, and if you want them nicely centered for deviled eggs, stir gently until it comes to boil.
