OK, all. Re: post # 7211 can anyone recommend a book for

Well-known member
sauce making information? I do not need wordy, lengthy, or beautiful, just sound information other than what Betty Crocker has to offer. Don't get me wrong, BC is great, I just have to believe there is more to sauces than what is offered there.

Thanks!

Denice, There is a wonderful book by Food & Wine's Grace Parisi - ...>

called "Get Saucy," check the reviews on Barnes and Noble. It is a wonderful book!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my old two volume Doubleday cookbook. Name it and it's in there. I bought the

recent edition for a friend for Xmas last year and it looked good too. It has all kinds of sauces and then many variations on them. It is my favorite basic go-to cookbook hands down.

I plan to look at each book and decide which works best for me. The only problem

is that I have a weakness for books, so hopefully I can narrow it down to just one! lol

I feel so guilty when I see his book...My M&D met him on a cruise and had many discussions with him.

He is apparently a wonderful man, and really has a passion for his cooking. My Mom was bragging about how I host family dinners most weekends, ranging from 4-24 each week. I can only imagine how she was embellishing on what I serve....ANYWAY, he was so kind, he gave my mom a signed copy of his sauce book for me...

((Don't tell him...but when I moved to our current home, it got lost in the shuffle...)) I can not find it anywhere....To add to the guilt, every once in a while, my Mom will ask for the book so she can make a great sauce for xxxx. I broke the news to her 10 yrs ago that it was missing, but still get questions if I found it. Did I mention that I feel bad!(*&(*^%

Thanks for listening! It really was a great cookbook, and I think the only one that I lost during the move. I keep hoping it will show up when I look for old treasures in the attic!

I have this series, wish I could say I've read and absorbed them all. The Sauces book is available

on the internet for as low as $3.50, I searched through Abebooks.com

WOW! Michel has been a huge influence on my favorite local chef...I would

really love to meet him. I have several (maybe all) of his books and every time I read them, I feel like I'm sitting down with a master.

I can totally relate about the lost book. Somehow I ended up with multiple copies of Anthony Bourdain's "The Nasty Bits." One day, in a rush to walk out the door, I grabbed a copy, intending to give my extra to a friend. I start to inscribe it, and realize...just two pages over from where I'm going to write, that this is the copy Tony & his entire No Reservations crew has signed. YIKES! And I nearly gave it away...
