OK . . . I have to confess . . .

I admit it . . . I love cauliflower steamed, then dressed with a little butter and breadcrumbs. Equally, I love brussels sprouts steamed, then dressed witha little butter and balsamic. I could eat these EVERY night happily.

And then, I fall into the trap of all the posts regarding roasting. So, I take the plunge and coat with olive oil and S & P and roast. And,very sorry my friends, I am always horribly disappointed. The results doen't taste anything like the vegeatbles that I love, which is perhaps why others like this procedure as much. SIGH.

No offense to anyone. Just a comment. I always like the 'weird' vegetables . . . brussels sprouts, cauliflower, lima beans.

My mom had only one way to cook cauliflower--she steamed it, then topped with dry breadcrumbs

and Parmesan cheese (from a green can), then put lots of butter in a small iron skillet, browned it (actually, she burnt it beyond recognition, but you don't have to) and poured that over the cauliflower, which sizzled the breadcrumbs and cheese on contact.

Our family still makes it that way every Thanksgiving, though we don't burn the butter as much, and I've been known to toast fresh breadcrumbs and grate my own cheese when it's my turn.

Enjoy your veggies your way!

And by the way, I love all manner of lima beans, cooked any way. What's wrong with people who don't?

I agree with Joe, enjoy your veggies your way, but hats off to you for trying new ways...sometimes

it reveals new flavors and treatments we can adapt to please us.

We have a saying....

... in Brazil, that goes more or less like this:

what would "blue" do if everyone loved only "yellow?"

I realize that it loses a lot of its charm in translation, but you get the idea...

if you love your cauliflower steamed, with breadcrumbs on top... that's the way to have it!
