Ok, make fun of me all you want, but these are amazing.

One of my mom's friends gave us these to take up to the mountains last week, and they turned out to be ridiculously good. Mind you, *I* wouldn't pay $44 for 12 buns (that's ~$3.67 per bun, for those playing along at home), but I was quite happy to bake (I use the term loosely--"heat"?) and eat them. The pastry is extremely good--heartier than croissant dough, but still flaky. Very simple, but very good.

The long weekend in the mountains was a hit, and my parents' anniversary dinner wasn't too labor intensive (Chicken Kiev, rice dish, salad with mandarin oranges and almonds, cheesecake), but they seemed to like it. smileys/smile.gif When it came time to open gifts, they'd purchased the exact same card. smileys/bigsmile.gif

That's when you know you are either made for each other, or been married too long smileys/smile.gif

Or both! I'm all for expensive pre-fab pastry if someone else pays for it.

You were on vacation too, after all. Sounds like a great time.

Those always look so beautiful. Good to hear they're as tasty as well. Thanks for sharing.

Glad that your meal came off well too. Sounds pretty "fancy" to me.

Aaww! I got a lil misty that they bought the same card. That is so sweet. Dinner menu sounds

wonderful and very fancy as Mar described. What a special and memorable way to celebrate your parent's anniversary. Hope you had nice weather!

edited to add: oohh, just looked at the breakfast rolls at W.S..... they do look good! Nice that you did not have to make breakfast..
