Ok, so I know this is getting picky, but with the links AND unread messages both in red...

It makes it hard to scroll through and find new messages easily. Can't the unread messages be put in a different color??

Am I the only one who has trouble with this?

Do you hit "mark read" up at the top? turns 'read' messages gray for me and 'unread' stay red...

I do this too, every day after reading messages. next time in only the new ones are red.

yes...no problem there, but as I scan down from top, unread messages AND links are red...

it's hard to pick out what is UNREAD from what is a LINK/IMAGE when they are all the same color

Let Us Distinguish: First understand that each thread and each message/post

within a thread is actually a "link" i.e. "hyperlink." This (hyperlink) is the fundamental method of navigation on the World Wide Web (Web). It is how you click from something to something else. Inbound (same site/domain) vs Outbound (different site/domain) doesn't matter to the web browser. It sees either as a hyperlink and the status is going to be either Visited or Not Visited (Read or Unread) The "Link" as indicated within the thread listings as "(LINK)" are also hyperlinks (links). The only difference is that someone has indicated to the readers when they created the post, of the forum/swap that the message contains a relevant link by using the "Link URL"; "Link Title"; and/or "Image URL."

As far as the general standards of web browsing are concerned both the Message Links and the "LINKS" are just links (hyperlinks). So your web browser will look at any/all links as being visited or not = (read or unread)

So you could click a particular message within a thread and if that message included one of these links, it would only change from unread to read if you actually clicked on it (Visited). This is proper and logical and otherwise what you are saying could be explained in this way:

'I want the Links within a message to show as read whether or not I have actually read them IF I clicked on the message that they were contained within."

Is that right?

Oh Paul, that makes my head hurt! HA!! Once a message in a thread has been read, it goes gray.

If I clink on the message's embedded link, it never changes - its always red. When I go to the top and select 'mark all messages as read',then they all turn gray...but the links embedded in each message never change color - they are always red. Why this is different, I don't know.

So...when I go back later to see if there are new postings, I scroll down the page and my eye keeps stopping on all the red embedded links. If new messages (yes, links within a thread) were to be a different color, it would be so much easier to find the new postings.

Am I clear? I've done a bit of HTML so I do understand what you are talking about (mostly). But I guess if I'm the only one with this issue, then it isn't an issue in the grand scheme of things.

OK I see the behavior now

it actually does change within the message but not on the main page - right?

I will look into this but in the larger scheme like you said, it is more important to completely migrate away from this current forum (software) to a new one. I.e. complete overhaul rather than continuing to (try to) fix minor issues.
