Again I know why I am not a lover of the wee feline group.

(Yes, I do think the stray we have is very precious but not right NOW!!!)

It pooped on my chair...fair enough but I was so sure that I could smell cat pee somewhere in the house kind of on the counter 'tween the kitchen and the study....but thought it might have been the poop (what do I know) so grabbed my bag and rushed out to the lawyer (late as usual) and sitting in the car I was sure I could smell pee again. Well, needing a pen in the lawyer's I picked up my bag and Grossed out. I asked my daughter what she could smell, yes cat pee.

That DARN cat had peed on my bag, in my bag and all on the counter.....

How do I get RID of the smell. It is a new bag bought to travel with tomorrow!!!!

and the small lingers on,in the counter area...

GROSS!

Last night my DH was rather sheepish and picked up the cat..... I followed .....it is ALL his fault. He has been cutting down shrubs in hurricane preparedness and chopped back the shrub the cat climbes to get access in and out the house!!!!!

It is almost "never bad animals but bad owners" isn't it?

How do I get rid of the smell from a leather bag, leather purse and marble and granite work area????

I used to use stuff I had bought at the pet store, can't think of the name. smileys/frown.gif Z (?) since you are

pressed for time, maybe they would be your best resource. Good luck with that!!

Q: how do you keep your cat from peeing on the living room rug?

A: keep your leather purse on the counter.

I just have to say I've had cats all my life and they've never gone anywhere they weren't supposed

to.

I feel bad for you going through this; I can't imagine WHY your cat did that!!!!!

My cats would never think of going anywhere but in their box!

Funny story and a couple of things to check for...

Many moons ago we packed up two cats to move from hubby's first duty station in Il and headed to his first ship, ported in San Diego. The ship was actually on a visit to San Francisco so he had to fly up to meet it, in his sailor uniform. As he sat on the plane, thinking the guy next to him REALLY stunk, the lightbulb finally went on. It was HE that stunk. Our male cat, who was apparently miffed at having been drugged, moved cross country, stuck in a garage for two weeks had taken his revenge. He had marked his territory on the underside of the bib of his uniform. Not visible and in the rush of getting him on a 5:00 a.m. flight out of a busy airport in a big city we were unfamiliar with...well...

His clean uniforms were rolled up in his sea bag and there was no way to get one presentable before boarding the ship...oh, did he make a first impression...and thankfully (for the cat) he had 6 weeks to cool off before next facing the guilty culprit.

Often times, if a cat does do something like that there is a reason. Either they are mad or ill. The only other time we had an issue with that cat he had a pretty bad UTI resulting from the wrong cat food (too high in minerals) and had to be surgically treated. Cats are fastidious and a fixed cat will not go 'just for the heck of it.'

As far as odor, if the surface is permeable, you may not get it out. When I managed an apartment complex, we occasionally had to reseal concrete sub-floors before laying new carpet due to animal smells.

Good luck!

It is, I am sure, because DH cut.....

back the shrub she climbs to get in and out of the house. She was unable to get out with ease as usual, (she could have if she had tried a bit more.) and we deff. don't keep a litterbox, I hate the smell, the idea of those boxes!

Oh, MY....awful. Poor man.....

I am sure it was 'cause she found the bush not quite as easy to ascend/descend. My husband has made artifical branches, till it grows again. Also the house has been piled up with all outside furniture as we are shutting up the upstairs for a few weeks while off island ...precautions in case of a big blow coming by...none on the chart yet but better safe than sorry.

hi Joanie, that kind of behavior almost always indicates a problem. while she is at the

vet, have her checked, particulary the urine. the only time I've ever had a cat do that was when they were trying to tell me something was wrong. (don't even want to count how many cats we've had over the last 15 years!) she might have pain as well.

the other factor could be some kind of stress situation. has anything changed for her? the enzyme advice is the way to go.

I hope things get straightened out for all of you.

Joannie, I use feline pine and it never smells. I've had people come into my house and comment how

clean it smells with a litter box. Try it, you may like it.

We keep our cats indoors because it's too hot and too many fleas. also, my main coon isn't the kind of cat to be an outdoor cat; he's more of a show cat

if you have Febreze, it works well to put some in water and then sponge the area.

Or if your bag is washable, put some directly into a washbasin or the washing machine. Not sure about the countertop, but baking soda solution might work. or vinegar water if the surface can take the vinegar.

And some cats are just more sensitive to "Change" than others. . .

We have two cats, litter-mate brother and sister. The male we never have problems with (except for the time when he had a UTI) but the female, "my" cat. . .

What a brat. New cat box, pee in our bedroom. Cat litter that is too perfumed. . . pee in our bedroom. Recently my daughter threw out a small, round washbasin used as a cat box that had been in our back hall and had been used by a visiting cat that my daughter had locked in her room while trying to find a home for it (a home was found). OUr cats normally use the cat box in the garage, but the female had started to use the one that had been thrown out. Result? Cat box gone, pee in our bedroom. Though, thank the gods, I caught it early and have hit it with Nature's Miracle and hydro-peroxide. The cat is locked out of our bedroom untill her memory fades--which is just as well as my husband does not like cat hair in bed as he is a magnet for it and any cat hair what-so-ever migrates towards and sticks to his stubbly chin, like felt animals sticking to the kindergarten teacher's sandpaper board.

Change: with some cats, you wanna avoid it.

And by GAWD, keep the litter box CLEAN!
