okay - I am taking this seriously guys. I almost have a SurveyMonkey survey ready to post to get your ideas so watch for that and reply ASAP.

I am going to dinner next Wednesday night with the friend that used to have a travel agency. She just got her IATA stuff for her new events planning and management business so we can book through that plus because it is an event service, she has access to get with chefs and such to see what it would take to get them on the cruise. After we meet, we'll get in touch with a couple of the reps from some of the cruise lines to see what options are available and who can offer the best packages and such. So keep an eye out for more to follow over the next few days and week.

Is anybody interested in other food types of authors such as Jane & Michael Stern of Roadfood? Or Michael Ruhlman - Soul of a Chef? Things like that? Oh well - the survey will ahve a place for you to tell me but be thinking about it.

OMG, I am so in,do you have a time frame yet, that could help or hurt me? roadfood guys, yes? or?

Or....you could just all join us

on our cruise next January. It's on the Island Princess, sailing from Acapulco, going through the Panama Canal and ending in Fort Lauderdale.
We've been known to get together with fellow foodies, but adding yet another cruise to our current vacation schedule would be a huge stretch...but we'd be bummed to miss out.

To answer both of you....

Judy - that might be an option I'll definitely keep your cruise in mind - what dates have you selected?

Nan - working on what dates work - that is why I am putting together the survey to see what works best for the majority of folks as well as get other particulars that will affect participation.

The other thought was that even though a cruise doesn't quite qualify for RoadFood, maybe we can find smoe places to try on the stops and by combining the two - we might get some of the RoadFood folks interested and increase the size/buying power of a larger group. Plus I was just on the RoadFood Bus Tour of Nashville last Saturday and Jane and Michael are a hoot - just depends on whether or not we could get them. Of course who we get depends on timing of course and the earlier in the year, probably the easier to get any authors and/or chefs.

That's a great cruise, we did it a few years ago, but it ended in Puerto Rico. One of our favorites.
