cooking. I heard her say the best way to shred carrots was in the food processor, you get nice long shreds. I didn't see how she put them in the processor but her shreds were nice and long. When I do this I get little tiny shreds because the carrots fit in the feed tube standing up. How do I get long shreds? Laying them down just makes them spin around on top of the blade. What am I doing wrong please?

I've seen Ina using her shredder before and I cannot figure out what kind of unit she has

She can lay a cabbage wedge down inside her feed tube and get nice long shreds. My feed tube is narrow. Does anyone know what kind of processor she uses?

A little googleing suggests this may be the one she uses -

Barbara, you definitely have to lay them in sideways. Some pieces always end up spinning around

on the blade, but it you ignore them they eventually get caught and grated as you do the next batch. Using big fat carrots will help, and so will cutting them in lengths that will fit snugly in the feed tube.

Thank you all. I think I will try cutting the carrots to fit sideways into the feed tube

and not worry about the ones spinning around on top of the blade. Not a difficult concept, my brain just wasn't getting it! So thank you very much for your help smileys/smile.gif

Myabe a good excuse to try the Jamie Oliver carrot bread with lime marscapone!
