Okay, next holiday stop. What's on your menu for New Year's Eve/and or Day??

I'm seriously thinking about making Hungarian stuffed cabbage for the first time and did some more homework tonight and reviewed some links I've saved from a few months ago.

We're going with our traditional fondue night for New Year's Eve

and for the first time I'm considering Hoppin' John for New Year's Day. I want to make it a soup, though. I've been looking at lots of recipes and trying to pick from here and there to make one of my own. It should be interesting since A. I'm not Southern and B. I've never tasted any version of it at all. smileys/smile.gif

we have a big potluck gathering with a big baked ham as the main attraction. My DH will make

scalloped potatoes and I made up some calico baked beans that can be reheated easily, and a big pan of King's Hawaiian rolls. I might bake up some brownies with a mint topping with some Andes mints I bought on after Christmas sales. I hope to get some scraps of ham for a small pot of blackeyed peas and cornbread on NY day. we'll be snowmachining, so warm and comfy foods will fill our long weekend.(when I say "we'll" be snowmaching, I mean "he'll" be snowmachining, and I'll have my Kindle.) maybe I'll try it again this year. did not see the fun of it last year. I made a batch of Union Cafe nuts and combined them with a rice cracker mix. It's really addictive.
