there were "little black things" in the flour. She said she didn't think they would hurt anything so she made it anyway!

My first question was "Did you serve me any of it?"

"no"

My mom sticks her flour in the freezer for a while when she brings it home to ensure

that if there is a bug or two that they won't reproduce.

No kidding! This morning I discovered an invasion of Indian meal moths in my dried California

and ancho chiles that I bought last week to make enchilada sauce. Fortunately they're not in anything else. Perhaps they came from the store like that, though the past few years about this time (August-September-ish) I seem to get these Indian meal moths. Anyway, I just came back from the store with these Pantry Pest Traps that have been working like a charm for me for many years. I should've bought 'em a couple months ago and put 'em to work ahead of the seemingly-fall-invasion. Will know for next year. smileys/smile.gif

We were having an invasion into just about everything (even walnuts) and

discovered that the culprit was birdseed (for wild birds) that we dispensed out of one of those galvanized trash cans - a small one. They were hatching in the seed and spreading out all over the place. Got rid of the seed and the moths disappeared.

The freezer is the place for the flours etc. Just have to remember to take it out to get to room temp before measuring. I even keep batteries in there. Used to keep unexposed film in there. -- remember film?
