....flew to Dubai overnight. Took the early morning flight to England and for the first time ever I saw HUGE areas of SNOW. I have never been in snow and only ever saw peaks covered with snow before but this was vast, flat areas of smooth, white sparkling in its pristiness.
It was so sad to say goodbye. I had a wonderful couple weeks taking my Mum out. She is now 84 and has had a masectomy, a hip op, a pace-maker and just recently an op on her wrist from her fingers to her (almost) elbow for a sudden, strange spur growth which cut through 50% of her tendons.
She is full of beans and again has just started driving but unfortunately now has liver cancer.
We had fun, I took her out lots to as many restuarants and sightseeing as she could cope with (which was every second day)....and she ate loads everytime I took her out but in the short space of time I was with her I could see her tummy growing and yet she was getting thinner.
VERY HARD to say goodbye to her.
On the last day we were together to talk about who was getting what (for heavens sake Mum, you decide...but No, she wanted us all there)she made her Cheese Scones...these are THE BEST...we all have her recipe but none of us make them quite the same....I'll post it, with her instructions when I get back to the island.
I am now in my daughter's wee flat in England...the first she has had on her own.
She is now 5th year uni (3 years to go)and in the middle of final assignements so not too much playing will be done with her this week. It is rather chilly but the sky is blue and I am heading out to the shops...where else....I want to find a book store and decide if I really want Gordon Ramsey's books...Fast Food and ??, Or do I want Jamie Oliver's latest Ministry of Food. I have so much luggage as well....do I need more books????
Went out to her local last night and had a very nice Pea and Pancetta soup.
Oh, I will later expound on the meals I had on the plane...the food was really good for the most part but the wine was excellent. Pouilly Fume all the way......
