and inspiration. last night it came out of the oven and I couldn't stand it, I had to cut into it. It only cooled for about 20 minutes before I cut it. IT HAD HOLES!!!! Yeah!!! Finally, holes, a crispy crust and a nice sour flavor. Be still my heart smileys/smile.gif I can't believe that I baked a good loaf of bread, amazing.

Thanks to everyone here, you all always inspire me to try new things!

Wonderful feeling to see that open crumb, isnt it?

I remember so well my first "non-hockey-puck", it was a major thrill!

Now, make another one, and let it cool completely, it will be even better! smileys/wink.gif

 
Great news! Did you slather it with butter that melted into those holes?

Yes, it was definitely better once it cooled. I could taste more of the sour flavor. Thanks Sally,

I am very excited and am going to start on the next "batch" so that it will be ready to bake Sat morning. Gotta practice it again, and maybe again!, so I know I've got the tecnique for sure smileys/smile.gif

I made two sourdough breads this past weekend, one shaped as a batard, the other a boule, ended up cutting the boule in half and giving to a friend

never seen a man so happy! ;-0

and it helps cutting down the temptation to over indulge
