Then int'l mkt I shop in had one sliced in half & wrapped in plastic but you could still smell it

I love the international market but that is the bad part about it - some of the stuff REALLY stinks - or let's say, takes some getting used to. I couldn't believe they sliced one open and had it displayed right there first thing as you came in the store - the first thing you saw and smelled.

Yep! Had dinner with Tony Bourdain once. He was talking about attending a Durian festival in Vietnam

Said trains full of Durian come into the city--stunk like hell.
