I am going to make Rocky Road Popcorn and the recipe calls for 12 ounces chocolate-flavor candy coating. I've never seen this. Would it be just a bar of semi-sweet chocolate?

would that be those chocolate-flavoured sprinkles (in the cake decorating section)?

because i know they are artificially flavoured

Here's some info:

Chocolate Flavored Coating:
A blend of cocoa powder and vegetable fats other than cocoa butter. Foundations are similar to other chocolate products using sugar, milk and flavorings. The substitution of other fats for cocoa butter can make these products less expensive or easier to use than real chocolate. Has flavor similar to the other chocolates but may have a waxy mouthfeel. Alternative to all chocolate uses where cost and ease of use are important

Yep, I agree with Mimi. This stuff melts beautifully and hardens quickly.

You can make your own "chunky" candies by adding chopped nuts, raisins, cranberries, dried fruit, whatever, then scooping out to dry on wax paper.

3 minutes later...yum.

I have candy molds in various shapes and the kids love to make holiday treats to give as gifts.
