Paris Bound - Restaurant suggestions?

I'm leaving for Paris Sunday - work related meetings. I'll be staying in a hotel very close to the Eiffel Tower. Monday and Thursday are free days - so I'll do some sightseeing.

Any suggestions on sightseeing? I've been to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Orangery, etc on my last trip 3 years ago...

Any suggestions on restaurants near the hotel (on the Avenue de Suffren)? Looking for good food, not too expensive, not too up-tight...

Thanks,

Tess

Sights to see: Musee d'Orsay, Les Invalides, Petit Palais, and

Dehilleran (kitchen supply store) is a fun place to visit for foodies. Most of the restaurants I could suggest are around the left bank. And of course, Versailles is a great place to visit also.

Cafe du Marche

38, rue Cler

is one of the best options in the neighborhood -

I lived pretty close to where you are staying, and Cafe du Marche was a perfect option for a nice meal, not expensive and the atmosphere is great too (not uptight at all)

I highly recommend that place.

Plus, you get to visit the market of Rue Cler, which is spectacular

For some other places I love, if you want to take a look at my blog, I had a post about it last year

Saint-Chapelle and the Crypt Areologique, both near Notre Dame, and for food to go,

Bon Marche Epicerie.

My favorite brasserie might be too far for you--Vaudeville near the Opera.

Ask the hotel staff if there is a restaurant nearby with a

Bib Gourman in the Guide Michelin. Those restaurants serve what the Guide Michelin calls good value for money food, and they're usually cheap-ish too. I and DH swear by those restaurants when we travel smileys/smile.gif

Wonderful former private house museum near the Arc de Triomphe-the Jacquemart-Andre Museum>>.

It's at 158 Blvd Haussman not far from the Champs-Elysee. Great self-guided tour and there is a cafe where we had a delicious lunch. The salads are named after artists-I had the Van Dyke which comprised, smoked duck breast, foie gras, figs, etc. Unexpected and delightful. It reminded me of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. One family's vision. My other "bests" are Saint-Chapelle and D'Orsay. Have fun.

check the web site. It is a wonderful find. Friends and family who have eaten there enjoyed it. have a great trip.

What's the coolest thing anyone has purchased at Dehilleran? The

last time I was there I bought a Mauviel double boiler. Am planningto go again in June, can't wait. I just sit my hubby down with a beer and go browse.
