Pass the BUTTER, PLEASE!

This came to me from one of my friends who is studying to beccome a Naturopathic Doctor:

Be sure to read to the end. A couple of things may surprise you about margarine.

Pass The Butter. Please. This is interesting.

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back.

It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow colouring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings.

DO YOU KNOW The difference between margarine and butter? Read on to the end... this gets very interesting!

1. Both have the same amount of calories.

2. Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams; compared to 5 grams for margarine.

3. Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.

4. Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.

5. Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and

only because they are added!

6. Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavours of other foods.

7. Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years .

And now, for Margarine..

1. Very High in Transfatty acids.

2. Triples risk of coronary heart disease .

3. Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)

4. Increases the risk of cancers up to five times..

5. Lowers quality of breast milk.

6. Decreases immune response.

7. Decreases insulin response.

And here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC... and shares 27 ingredients with PAINT

These facts alone were enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance). You can try this yourself:

Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it open in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will notice a couple of things:

* no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)

* it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic . Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

Share This With Your Friends.....(If you want to butter them up')!

Pass the BUTTER, PLEASE!

Yes, Melissa in Dallas did I and I just saw that and sent her a private message. Here's the link:

I must have gotten busy, and didn't show up here for a few weeks. And didn't see the questions. Marianne in post #18827 has a friend that is doing the same thing as a dietician I found.

Food you eat can cause you to be very healthy, or very unhealthy. Naturopathic Dr.s and their colleagues are into not so much veganism, but healthy, organic, unprocessed food, and getting off of the addiction this and other countries have on the pharmeceutical dope that everyone is so dependent on.

Even Type 2 diabetics can get off insulin with a total change in diet, and other healthy prevention oriented practices.

Cancer, well if you want to know how eating properly can kill the cancer virus, you can private message me.

Anytime I post something that is unhealthy and very wrong for the human body on here, I end up regretting it.

I only post validated proved information that I can show resources for, yet...I just shut one thread down, and I posted rules, and the rules got broken.

My brother-in-law is a doctor and refuses to let his family use margarine - told me much the same

as you've posted - about it being almost the same as plastic. Just can't beat the taste of real butter anyway... Unless we're talking movie-theater popcorn, but I won't go there smileys/smile.gif

I know cheezz, it's really bad, and then theater popcorn is GREAT!

There are so many simple things we as foodies can do to make things more healthy. If you are healthy, there's no problem with splurging on a bad processed food. If you're not, there's a chain reaction from the time you ingest it, in your body, to the time your body has to work very hard to get it out.

Basically, if it's processed, man-made synthetic food, your body doesn't know how to process it. Synthetic man-made food can be dangerous to your health.

Now I don't know about Spam, LOL

Brown Butter Spread (T & T)

Brown Butter Spread

Michael Smith

Four sticks of room temperature butter (sixteen ounces)

Toss one stick of butter into a small saucepot and heat it until it melts. Because butter contains as much as twenty percent water it will begin to steam and foam. Once the water has evaporated the foam will subside and the butter’s temperature will begin to rise past the boiling point of water. The milk fat solids that make up one or two percent of the butter will then begin to brown.

Continue heating as the butter begins foaming a second time. Swirl it gently, watching the color, until it turns golden brown and releases the aroma of toasting nuts. Immediately pour the browned butter into a bowl to stop it from browning further. Cool to room temperature. Be patient this will take at least an hour.

Whip the remaining butter in a stand mixer then drizzle in the room temperature brown butter. Whip until fluffy.

If my body WOULDN'T process it, and it just passed thru, that would be ok with me!

I just read that a medium sized buttered movie popcorn is the equivalent of 10 big macs with 12 pats of butter... UGH!! Not that it's gonna stop me the next time I go see a movie *g*
