It has been sitting in the pastry drawer for quite some time. Last night I wanted to make "skirt" fajitas and the marinade recipe called for brown sugar or Mexican sugar.
I popped right out of my seat, went to the drawer and there it was, all its unadulterated sugar cane glory.
I had to take a cleaver to it, but the first taste gave a flashback memory to what "brown sugar" USED TO taste like.
I'm definitely going to try oatmeal cookies with it and see if they have a more authentic, old-fashioned taste.
Thanks again for sharing Texas with me!
