I saw persimmons at the FM and quickly gathered a few as I love to eat them out of hand and they also make a beautiful addition to a salad along with pomegranate arils.
WELL, these did look different from others I have enjoyed and quickly I was apprised that they WERE different--SO astringent I had to spit it out. I had given a couple to DD who also dialed me up for it--but with a site with the difference between persimmons. I had usually bought fuyu, I discovered. These were not--kaki?
But the antidote really works. I put them in a tightly covered container with a couple of tablespoons of vodka. They are now delightful.
