I saw that pet peeve thread below. Figured I would start a new thread__
I HATE when a recipe or food show person starts a chicken recipe with "ONE 3-1/2 to 4 lb chicken." Don't know about you all, but out here in our local grocery chains the only chickens I can find are 5 to 6 lbs. Lately when I have looked the it is kinda hard to find one close to 5 lbs; they are all almost 6 lbs or over. 30 years ago these birds were called roasters, but now roasters are not to be found, just gigantor chickens.
If I go to a natural food store (here it's Sprouts locally) or to a really small chain I can find those frying chickens of the 3-1/2 t0 4 lb range, but I will have to pay double or triple the price which really grates my gizzard, joke intended!
There is NO PROBLEM at all at the local KFCs or Popeye's stores. Their chickens look to be, oh, really lucky if they are 3 lbs. Maybe the chains are buying all the tiny chickens . . .
