As I mentioned a while ago, I was looking forward to meeting Peter Reinhart by attending his Artisan Breads class in Texas last Sunday

he is a wonderful man, and a great teacher too!

if anyone is interested, I include a link to my blog with a more detailed description of the day. It was wonderful! ANyone who enjoys bread baking should try to attend one of his classes....

I agree. He's wonderful! I've had the

distinct pleasure of assisting at two of his classes. He's a really patient guy filled with baking and bread-making knowledge and a great teaching style to get it across to his students.

I'm so glad you got to take his class, Sally.

It was particularly special...

.... because I am ALMOST done with the BBA Challenge, I wish I had completed the 43 breads before meeting him, but no big deal - only four to go

The final four are divided in two that I don't really care for - a simple white bread (which I intend to make as hamburger buns and freeze for later), a whole wheat (that cannot possibly be better than his light wheat made earlier) - and two breads I am looking forward to: the best being number 42: a bit like a poilane with cheese and potatoes filling. Can you imagine? smileys/smile.gif

Good question....

a few crazy folks have been talking about the possibility of doing Hamelman's Bread (85 breads total!)

I am not doing that. An option that has been discussed too, and I find a lot more attractive: picking a few of Hamelman's BREAD recipes and making them. The group of bakers would take turns choosing which bread to make next, and everyone would exchange their comments, maybe try variations.

If this happens, I'll definitely join.

Making a full book in the order the recipes appear, wasn't easy. There are tons of other breads I would like to make, but the commitment to do what's next in the book prevented me from doing them - after all, I bake mostly on weekends only
