Picked the first morels today.....

supper was fried morels. Then I pounded a chicken breast thin and lightly dredged and fried in the leftover butter/olive oil mix from frying the morels. Finished by adding white and portabella mushrooms sliced thinly with shallots and sauteing until tender. Deglazing with white wine and finishing with cream. I meal fit for a king.

Unless we get some more rain quickly, this isn't going to be much of a year for the morels though. Hubby just knew it would be a bumper crop and I think we might have picked about 2 dozen so far compared to the hundreds the last couple of years.

Alas, not available here. I bought a mushroom log for H one Christmas. It was a good

gift for him. We took it to the Caribbean where there's lots of naturual humidity, but I don't think it liked the heat too much. Not successful.

Oh my! Is this something local that I need to know about?!?

I have been guilty of lurking as my computer is acting up, but still try to keep up.
I love love love shroomies, so if these are wild, I would love to know. Your recipe sounds divine!

Ok, thanks Junebug for the link! I have a birthday coming up and will beg someone for this!
