Picked up a Romertopf Clay Baker for $3 at HFH. Never used one...any ideas?

I had one years ago an it was fun for a while. Like anything else that one buys

it soon goes to the back of the cabinet at one point and becomes replaced by something else which does not involve so much work. As I recall, you had to soak it first. place into a cold oven, and avoid sudden temperature changes. I used it for pot roasts, and dishes which included both proteins and veggies. Then there is the clean-up. If your new pot did not have instructions, here is a link to the maintenance of the pot. Have fun with it! I really did use mine a lot and it was fun to experiment with.

Mar, you described it perfectly!!! How fun to try something new for $3.00! You will enjoy

learning / researching the science of the Romertopf!

I have one, do not use it as much, as I am enjoying my electric pressure cooker.

But, for $3.00.... Have fun, try it!

No worries,Barb. I've long since passed on the Romertopf. Did have

fun playing with various recipes in it 12 plus years ago but in the end the item I most prepared was chicken, especially whole chickens. But then I started preferring oven-roasted chicken for the crispier-skin. So I let the Romertopf go and can't say I've really missed it.
