Pics from the big BBQ weekend in NYC -- did you make it, SandraNY?

Thanks for posting - Pat Martin is just down the road from me....

and I love him to death. Awesome BBQ in a REAL JOINT - it's in the front of a car repair shop. He's also from MS so we share that connection also.

Big Bob Gibson's is my favorite for chicken - love his white bbq sauce and keep it on hand for chicken.

And Ed Mitchell with The Pit is my hero. I would be broke if he lived near me. They decided not to do the Franklin Food & Spirits festival again this year but Ed had already promised me I could work with him (I volunteered last year and was to work with him but they put me with the Southern Foodways Alliance which was great also). So I am waiting for another opportunity to learn from him.

I think that Salt Lick is highly over rated - but that's my personal opinion.

Warning! this will make you crave BBQ desperately. for breakfast. I need that fish photo to look

at to take away these cravings.

Yes, we made it...

It was a BBQ feast!

Firts stop was the Salt Lick, per your recommendation - great brisket and smoked sausage - good thing we got there early because the line after 12 was almost 2 hours long, plus they ran out of food at 3pm...!

Had some ribs and another brisket which was also very nice and then some more ribs... you get the idea!

Then for "dessert" we had some tacos form a new taco stand, carnitas with green sauce and a corn on the cob slathered with mayo, queso fresco and chili powder...

and Austin

food was ok, but the music even better - great entertainment and loved sitting outside.
