Pine Mouth...anyone experrience this? Taste bitterness lasting for serval days to weeks after

Interesting article. I eat a lot of pine nuts, but I have never experienced Pine Mouth.

Never heard of that, but did have something similar happen to me when

I ate a persimmon once. The wierdest sensation, biiter and almost prickly. 'Never did find out what the problem was, but it hasn't happened since.

I experienced a bitter taste to everythng for a few weeks a couple months ago...

It wasn't severe and it went away on its own. I can't tell you if I ate pine nuts beforehand, but I eat them all the time.

You'd think I'd have lost a pound or two, but no.

Hey, I'm thinkin' ...New Diet Fad! I have an unopened bag in my freezer but I think I bought them >

from Costco at least a couple of months ago.

Since Marigolds are probably looking bad right now, many folks are pulling them out of their yards

If you've handled these flowers lately, without gloves, then put your fingers into your mouth, you will get that bitter taste that can last for weeks.

I think they can go rancid, but I didn't know the taste stayed for weeks

I've heard you can keep them in the freezer and use as needed. Not that they last that long around my house!

This is so odd. I had just mentioned to H a few days ago, that a chef on TV spoke about a metallic

flavour being caused by oxidation of the food eaten. It seemed to me that it had to be of the vegetable variety (flora and not fauna) but I can't recall why now. I get that very, very often and my husband never notices it. I was wishing that the chef had elaborated.

I am extremely sensitive to metallics. Can't stand the smell of stinky steel near my food, etc. My mother used to have some cheap knives that I couldn't tolerate.

I notice fish flavours in eggs from time to time as well, although H finds nothing. I suppose the sense of smell that is known to be stronger in women, relates directly to taste, but this metallic thing, I really must investigate.

i wonder if it has anyting to do with the type of metal alloy used in fillings or crowns? That >>

might explain why some people experience it and some don't.
(Sorry about the typos, I'm retired now and can no longer spell....)

I have heard of this....

but the only thing I've experienced myself was eating a couple of rancid ones. Strangely enough, they were in the freezer, but went rancid anyway

I had toasted them to use in a pasta sauce, decided to munch on a couple just because... smileys/smile.gif

it was THE most disgusting taste! Until then, I thought that nuts going rancid was a bit of a fairy tale. It is not. It is ugly when it happens... just the thought of using that in my sauce leaves me cold

No Omega 3s here but maybe the animals were fed fish meal as in the olden days. Could be my fillings

although seems that most of the old fillings are replaced now. I sure ate a lot of candy when I was a kid.

I dunno. More to learn, I guess.
