Pink Peppercorns, did you know....

they are in the cashew family and may cause a response in folks who are allergic to tree nuts? This blew me away.

That is news I can use because DGD is allergic to tree nuts. Many thanks. Her other

grandfather (and grandmother) are docs so I suspect they know this. But I just bought some pink peppercorns to use in an appy we might have at the beach.
MANY thanks.

I have a grown daughter severely allergic to nuts. We discovered it when she was

about 5. We had never given her peanuts, until this one night I made sundies for the kids after dinner, and we ended up in the emergency room for several hours. In later years, we found out walnuts were also a culprit, Even though peanuts are a legume, it was the start of a life long battle for her.. I know she has had pink peppercorns as an adult while visiting here and eating the food I prepare. But, so far, no reaction....of course I did not find this information about the pink peppercorns out until a new spice company I recently ordered a four peppercorn blend had a bright pink notice attached to the bag about them being a possible trigger for some folks.

We were at a meeting in Antiqua where another family had a teen baby sitter who was

allergic to peanuts--and knew it. They ate out one night and she had some--long story short, she died after being air lifted to Miami. And the docs who were the family she was with tried SO hard to save her there. It was shocking.

So sorry, that was an awful experience. Those nut allergies are very concerning,

I taught our daughter, to ask if nuts were in cookies, cakes, etc, when room moms brought goodies for the kids to school. Some of the moms thought she was just a fussy eater and said, "no nuts". By that time , we had Benadryl , but it as so scary. Now she has to watch, ground coffee, coffee flavorings, and so much more! Plus, she lives in an area, where walnut trees live. and if they burn or harvest....it is difficult.
