Last Friday's "Traditional" model: Whole Wheat and Italian Herb Crust dusted on the bottom with Kentucky Weissenberger White Cornmeal and topped with Red Sauce, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Mushrooms, Bell Peppers, and fresh Basil with Parmesan, Mozzarella, Fontina, Asiago, and Provolone Cheeses. I think it weighed about 10 lbs. smileys/wink.gif

We have both been missing pizza

and finally broke down (3x in the last week+) and ordered it cheese-less. Surprisingly, with lots of toppings and a bit extra sauce, we find we don't miss the cheese. I know - blasphemy! The first try ended up burned on the bottom a bit. Still tasty crust and tons of veggies/sauce. Next was thin crust - crackerish. Not our favorite but so good! Our last pizza was a previous cheesy favorite with chicken, banana pepper slices and feta toppings. This time, not enough sauce or toppings. Waaah! But I fixed the remaining half at home by adding Trader Joe's pizza sauce along with sautéed onions, green peppers and fresh mushrooms. Suddenly, just as good as original topped with cheese. smileys/smile.gif Colleen

Top secret pizza tip smileys/wink.gif

We have discovered salad pizza! Take your favorite pizza slice and top with antipasto salad dressed with low-fat Italian dressing (or Greek, or other vinegary dressed greens), slice together and stir. Absolutely the best. Colleen

When I saw you weren't eating cheese I was going to suggest this...

Particularly with chicken: Barbeque sauce and shredded lettuce, fresh basil, and fresh chopped tomatoes, and onions (I chop onions, soak in ice water for an hour, drain, and then use--like candy, no icky hot and nasty smells).

Ranch + Arugula and assorted chopped fresh veg.

Romaine and Thai Lime-Cilantro Vinaigrette, shrimp, chili oil, etc.

So many variations!

They served pizza like that in London. The entire center of the pizza was cut out, leaving

behind a tire shape of pizza. Then dressed salad was placed in the center. I loved it!

Now I hate to eat pizza without a lot of vinegary greens atop it. Just goes so well with the bread and cheese.

Even w/o the cheese smileys/wink.gif

Still have to deal with oil/fat in crust and sauce but we're back on pizza and loving it! Colleen

WOW! That looks wonderful! One of my tea group friends has been making pizza 1/mo for years.

Her children are older now and have moved out of the home, but still make there way back on Pizza nights!

I love yours! I admire your talents!

Yum! Your suggestions for us are spot on! Thank-you, Richard!

You reminded me how much we love the grill for pizza! It's been too hot out recently but that will change smileys/wink.gif I added frozen pizza dough balls to my shopping list. Colleen
