Planning a visit to Chicago

We will be in Chicago for 4 days during the first week of June. Anyone have any suggestions for good restaurants and/or attractions we shouldn't miss? Thanks.

I have never been but I just asked John who in his job was there several

different times. His job always centers around Airports so most times anything would be near them. He's said immediately "Breakfast at Tiffany's" which is near the airport. He also said there was a really good BBQ restaurant and will try to find the name. He said he saw that there is a really nice area downtown on the river that looks great but he never had time to go. I hope someone has more for you.

Here are some

We go to Chicago frequently and some of our favorite things to do is:
1) Take the Architectural Boat tour (every hotel knows about this)
2) The Chicago History Museum is small and fun
3) Chicago Art Institute
4) Shedds Aquarium

As for restaurants - do you have a favorite food? They are known deep dish pizza (Giodornis or Lou Malnatis). Fine eating at: Girl & The Goat (if you can get in), Aria at the The Fairmont (never crowded but delicious), Catch 35, Merlot for Italian, are a few.

I want to go to all of the Rick Bayless restaurants, Aviary for drinks and

if I could ever afford it, Alinea.

Friends who are food writers have suggested:
Nightwood Bakery
Westtown bakery and diner
2 Sparrows
Glazed and Infused

The Custom House, Blackbird, Bin 36 for casual

Ed DeBevics for breakfast, a Chicago institution, food is more diner like, and 50's era sassy waitresses put on a show. I will try to think of more....
I second the Girl and the Goat

Adler Planetarium--a good addition to Deb's sites.
If you go the the Art Institute, be sure to see the Thorne miniatures. Fascinating. smileys/smile.gif

Chicago Symphony Center--great venue, I was lucky enough to see Itzahk Perlman, with Daniel Barenboim conducting. Scored a ticket same day as show. smileys/smile.gif Maybe someone interesting will be there when you are.

The downtown pier area is called Navy Pier. touristy, but nice spot on the water.
